How to protect plastic windows from break-ins

Our reader rightly noted that quite often people break into an apartment through plastic windows. Of course, for the most part this concerns the two lower floors, and sometimes the top ones. But indeed, no matter how good a door you have, plastic windows without additional preparation — are simply a gift for thieves.

There are two traditional methods of protection that everyone knows about. These are installing bars on the windows or connecting an alarm system. Bars violate fire safety rules and change the appearance of the facade, which is prohibited. The alarm system, for the most part, solves the problems of protection against thieves, but requires constant payments, and you will rarely find a company that will bear material liability of more than a million rubles, or else you will have to pay a substantial sum extra for it.

Today we will tell you about another method that is not so widely known. But for a start, let us examine the 4 main ways of breaking into a plastic window:
1. Prying the frame’s cams with a crowbar or a large screwdriver. A skilled thief will manage it in 30 seconds without noise.
2. Turning the fittings with a screwdriver and a hammer. When struck on the cam, the fittings turn and the handle opens.
3. Drilling a hole next to the handle with a screwdriver and turning it with a device
4. Breaking the glass and opening the handle. The noisiest option, which people rarely resort to.

The protection method consists of using a complex of three components:
1. Burglar-resistant fittings with mushroom-shaped cams that resist prying. Preferably of imported manufacture.
2. A handle with armoring against drilling, which locks with a key. It resists turning through the cam or a hole in the frame. It is also suitable for protecting children from opening windows on their own.
3. Impact-resistant triplex glass. To break and knock it out, you would need to create too much noise and a fair amount of time.

Such a complex is quite sufficient for an apartment. For country houses, far from people, it is better to use bars with an alarm system.
